Remember His Wounds
Take the cup and take the bread
Christ’s body was broken and He bled
He bled for you and He bled for me
I see Him now on Calvary
Oh see the wounds in His hands and His side
Remember our Lord crucified
Recall the water and the blood
Oh see the costly price of love
The psalmist’s cry has now become Christ’s own
Left by God, forsaken and alone.
But Jesus trusted in God still
As His mission was fulfilled
“It is finished!” hear the Savior cry
The earth shakes under a blackened sky
Christ has paid God’s wrath in full
Oh what rich mercy for my soul!
See Jesus buried in the tomb
On a Sabbath day of gloom
Finished, the Son is now at rest
No one knew what would come next
I won’t believe Christ is alive
Unless I see His wounds and feel His side
I’ve felt His wounds and know it’s true:
“My Lord and my God!” It is You!
Forgive me O Lord when I sin
And drive the nails into Your skin
Your wounds pierce my wandering soul
From them Your grace still overflows
O Lord when I behold Your face
And sing the riches of Your grace
The only scars that I will see
Are on the Son Who died for me
